Obituary of Alfred A. Kozakiewicz

Please share a memory of Alfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Alfred A. Kozakiewicz, a/k/a Al Kozak Jr., passed away at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY on Friday, February 4, 2022. He was 67 years old, but definitely young at heart.

The son of the late Constantine Alfred Kozakiewicz and Cecile Kozakiewicz, he was born on April 12, 1954 in Suffern, NY. His family resided in Mahwah, NJ, then moved to Monroe, NY and finally established themselves in Monticello where the family owned Kozy Acres and his father worked as a realtor with Pennywise Properties for many years.

In elementary school, Al was an altar boy with aspirations to join the Priesthood. He had numerous careers that spanned throughout the Tri-State area and the West Coast as a Food and Metallurgy Laboratory Chemist for large corporations that included General Foods, Brooklyn Bottling, Grain Millers Inc, and LaDoux Industries in Tenafly, NJ. He loved learning and working in laboratories, but his first love was music. He was an extremely talented musician who created several known Rock ‘n Roll groups that played throughout the Catskills, Orange County, Pennsylvania and Upstate NY during the seventies through the nineties. He was an exceptional Lead Guitarist and Singer. He won the “Battle of the Bands” at Monroe High School and in the last 20 years played at VFW Halls entertaining veterans.

Al was a loving, caring, strong, spiritual man, who cared about being fair to all. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.

There will be no public services. Since Al was very passionate about this organization, Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital  www.stjude.org
