Lewis E. Whitaker of Monticello was called home Monday, December 14, 2009 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 55. He was born December 6, 1954 to the late Odell Whitaker Sr. and Lillie Mae Whitaker. Lewis worked for Ellenville Central School as a custodian for 23 years before retiring. He is survived by his sisters; Mae Holland and husband Robert, Bessie Mae Norman, & Jeanette Whitaker, all of Monticello, NY and Flora Mae Caldwell of Atlanta GA; his brothers Thomas Whitaker of Ellenville, NY and Frank Lee Peterson of Monticello, NY. Lewis also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; Edward Whitaker Sr., Glen Whitaker and Odell Whitaker Jr.; and a sister; Patricia Whitaker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 10-11am at The New Testament Church of Jesus Christ, 39 Clinton Avenue in Ellenville. His funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the church with Rev. Raymond Younger officiating. Burial will follow in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
