Obituary of Naomi M. McCormick

Naomi M. McCormick of Smallwood, NY passed away peacefully at the home of her twin sister and brother-in-law on Monday, January 24, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 73 years young.  The daughter of the late Otto G. Schwamberger and Meddie E. Kelly, she was born July 27, 1948 in Monticello, NY.

 

Naomi was the owner/operator of Bon Tress Unisex Salon in Monticello, since 1982.  In addition to her hairstyling career, she enjoyed her full-time position as EKG/EEG technician at Garnett Health Catskills.  She was truly loved by all who knew and worked with her at both locations. Her life was devoted to making people feel better by heart or hair.  She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  

 

Naomi is survived by her loving companion of 14 years, Mickey Barnett; her daughter Maureen Scott, who lovingly facilitated her care and never left her side; her son Kevin McCormick; twin sister Edna (Luke) Tursi; sister Anne Eacret; brothers Ed (Connie) Schwamberger, Charles (Christie) Schwamberger, and Otto (Leslie) Schwamberger; grandchildren Angela (Pedro) Agapito, Victoria and Naomi Jennings, Megan, Brandon, Kevin, and Jack McCormick; great grandson, Jaylen Agapito; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially Lisa (Tim) Gridley and Laura (Ron) Wechsler, for their undying love and support throughout her illness.

 

Naomi requested no visitation.  A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, January 29th at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Broadway & Liberty Street, Monticello NY with Father Bob Porpora officiating.  Interment of her ashes will be held on July 27, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel NY.
