Obituary of Peter C. Smith

Peter Christopher Smith of Rock Hill, a current postal worker, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Town of Mamakating.  He was 53.

The son of the late John G. Smith and Eileen Sliney Smith, he was born February 19, 1968 in the Bronx.

Pete was also an executive chef, and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wurtsboro, and the Mamakating Knights of Columbus Council #14560.He was a wonderful father and husband who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Vera Smith; their four children: Ryan, Kelly, Eoin and Kate; his siblings, Maureen Rolla, Barbara Reilly, Joan Zuckerman, Patricia Glyptis and Joseph Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.  His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 6 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home and at the church, and facemasks are required.
