Obituary of Joyce Copel Brown
Joyce Copel Brown of Masten Lake, a local home health aide, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. She was 68.
The daughter of the late Rufus Copel and Ann Marshall Copel, she was born December 26, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA.
Joyce graduated from Monticello High School and Morrisville College and went on to work as a substitute teacher at Monticello High School. She also worked at the Monticello Raceway, Pompano Park Raceway, Phelps Memorial Hospital, and Community Health Care. She loved to cook West Indian-American food, listening to reggae & jazz music, shopping, and a good party.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Roy Brown; her brother-in-law, John Brown; a sister, Paulette (Willie) Odom; an aunt, Grace Gains; special cousin, Vivian Drayton; special friends, Cathy Sermon, Connie Owens, Beverly Jefferson, Luire Smith, Shenita Straughan, and Shana Cooper; many other cousins, and a galaxy of friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a funeral service starting at 12:00 noon.
