I was Bettie's tap dance teacher in Ithaca for several years, about 10-17 years ago. She was such a delightful, upbeat and talented woman whom I instantly liked and admired tremendously. Aside from our common interest in dancing,we also shared an interest in horse racing, and she would tell me about her granddaughter, of whom she was very proud, as she was proud of all of her family. I was so grateful to know her, and have thought of her fondly from time to time since our class disbanded. Wishing her family and all of her friends peace and the comfort of sweet memories. Sincere condolences to you all.

I’m one of those dancers who adored Bettie. She was a role model to all of us 70-somethings who still love to dance. Bettie and I also shared our love of figure skating. She always shared her skating magazines with me and we loved to discuss changes in the sport. Bettie always came to dance class impeccably dressed and coiffed. She had the figure of a young girl. I used to say that when I grow up, I want to be like Bettie. I’m still working on it. I shall miss seeing that Aussie license plate on the big Caddie parked at the YMCA. Most of all, I’ll miss Bettie, a wonderful woman.
