Obituary of Emmitt E. Coney
Emmitt Edward Coney, born January 18, 1952 in Monticello New York, entered into eternal rest on August 27, 2021. Emmitt had many places he called home, Monticello, Rock Hill, Kauneonga Lake, Swan Lake, Hudson, Florida, Bloomingburg, and most recently, Hartsville Tennessee.
Emmitt was a devoted and loving son. He is now in heaven with his father Emmitt R. Coney and his mother Theresa M. Coney. I am sure that Mom has him making a quilt, baking cookies and banana bread, or planting geraniums.
Emmitt was a good "Big Brother". He will be missed by his brother Jerry Coney and sister-in-law Gayle Coney of Hartsville, Tennessee, and his sister Marian Dolan and brother-in-law Patrick Dolan of Monticello, New York.
Emmitt was also a loving and giving uncle and will be greatly missed by nephew Jerrod Coney and Logan Coney, niece Rachel Schiffer, nephew Zach Schiffer of Tennessee, his nephew Richard Parks, III of Monticello, New York, his niece Tricia Wahl and Justin Brodhagen of Hawaii; and several great nieces and great nephews Kaleigh Sadler, Kallen Sadler, Brayden Sadler, Thatcher Brodhagen, Madelyn Wahl, Quinn Brodhagen, Allyson Wahl, Casey Wahl and Carly Wahl. Emmitt (My Emmy) will also be missed by many cousins.
Throughout his life's journey Emmitt enjoyed many different careers. He worked in several department stores in Monticello, Maitre D at Stevensville Night Club in Swan Lake, hair stylist, floral designer at Flowers by Gru in Florida and Butterfly Botanicals in Bloomingburg, to nursery jobs in Tennessee. No matter what he was doing or where he was working, one thing was certain, he made a ton of friends that became family.
Graveside services and interment of ashes will be held on Sunday, November 14 at 1:00pm at the Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B in Bethel. For family and friends who are unable to attend, please join us on a Zoom Meeting:
