Obituary of Barbara Jean Heckstall
Barbara Jean Heckstall was born on September 8, 1953 to the late Odessa Harriet Lewis and Jesse Lewis, Sr. Sadly, on October 16, 2021, Barbara passed away at the age of 68.
Barbara attended and graduated from the Monticello School District. She went on to complete courses at Sullivan County Community College. Over the years, Barbara worked at the Monticello Housing Authority as the Section 8 Program Coordinator, the Raleigh Hotel in the Housekeeping Department, and she did tax returns in her spare time.
She met and married Timothy Heckstall, who predeceased her.
Barbara enjoyed listening to music, dancing, crossword puzzles, and soap operas. Barbara was very witty, smart and would not hesitate to tell you what was on her mind. She lived life on her own terms, and wherever she went, she was the life of the party. She was known to everyone as “Ma B”, because she opened her doors to anyone in need.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories—her five children, Marlon Hines (Denise) and DeShawn Hines-Edwards, Ronique Warner (Thomas), and Ronald Warner, Jr. (Jessica), all of Monticello, NY and Na’im Warner (Danielle) of Virginia; her companion, Darren Lindsay of Monticello, NY; one brother, Jesse Lewis, Jr. (Darlene) of Monticello, NY; her grandchildren, Shaniqwa Hines, Desiree Pace, Shakiah York, Dejarah York, DayShawn York, Markeese Hines, Devown Hines, Monaysia Hines, Malaysia Fields, Tyrell Fields, Jylasia Hardy, Kyari Melendez, Keira Smalls, Tajiq Holman, Xavier Outlaw, Rahmeik Warner, Nakyia Warner, Na’im Warner, Jr., Nahsiim Warner, Nyani Warner, and Lenox Warner; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and two grandchildren - Nair and Angel Warner.
Sleep well, Barbara , until we meet again. We are comforted knowing that although “death leaves a heartache no one can heal, LOVE leaves a memory no one can steal.”
