Obituary of Anna Rudy

Anna Rudy of Bethel passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Catskill Regional Medical Center's Skilled Nursing Unit in Harris. She was 85.The daughter of the late Stephans and Paraska Nimtschuk, she was born July 21, 1924 in Ostapkiwzi Kreis Kolomea, Ukraine. Anna immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her husband and son. The family lived and worked on a dairy farm in Bethel for many years until they purchased a home of their own.Anna enjoyed cooking Ukrainian meals, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and caring for her family. She is well known for her delicious homemade pierogies. No one was allowed to leave the table hungry, many times the saying, "Stuff Yourself" was heard.Anna was predeceased by her husband George. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan Rudy of Bethel and Katherine Davenport & her husband Jon of Lawrenceville, GA; three sons: Nikolaus Rudy of Bellows Falls, VT, Steven Rudy of Liberty and John Rudy of Bethel; three grandchildren: Benjamin Freed, Katie and Ryan Davenport.Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7 from 11am-1pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
