Obituary of Madeline B. Conway
On Saturday, April 10th, 2021, an angel was called back to heaven as Madeline B. Conway, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 87.
Madeline was born on March 7th, 1934 in New York City to John Bernius and Madeline King. She was married to William J. Conway and they went on to raise two sons, William "Chuck" and Michael, and one daughter, Patricia. She worked for various news publications during her working years, and she was also a member of the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years. In her later years she and her husband moved to Lake Wales, FL where they found their home at the Saddlebag Lake Resort community. There she was an active member of the community, serving as the MC at most events and running numerous community programs.
Madeline was the life of the party and always knew how to make her presence known anywhere she went. She lit up every room she walked into with her bold and beautiful personality. She had an uncanny ability to make friends with anyone almost everywhere she went. Not only would she make new friends, they then would know everything about her children and grandchildren as she had so much pride for her family and wanted everyone to know it. She was known for her ability to make everyone smile, no matter the setting.
Her passing will certainly leave a void in our lives here, however because of her unwavering faith in God our family takes comfort in knowing that she is now resting with her late husband, William Conway Sr., and her two predeceased children, William “Chuck” Conway Jr. and Patricia Vickers, as well as all of her departed relatives and friends. In honor of Madeline B. Conway, we love you forever, may you rest in peace my darling.
She is survived by her son, Michael Conway Sr., daughter-in-law, Kathryn Conway; grandchildren: Michael Conway, Daniel Jacobs, Samantha Morales, Christopher Conway, James Conway and Amy Conway, and great-grandchildren: Arianna, Mikey, Bella, Hezekiah and Jack.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 26 at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Interment of her ashes will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello. A reception will follow at Mike’s house in Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. PO Box 116, Rock Hill, NY 12775. www.rockhillfiredept.com/donate
