Allegra Ruth Towner, a retired mutual clerk for the Monticello Raceway, and lifelong resident of the area passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at her home in Monticello.  She was 81.

 

The daughter of the late David Kleveno and Bertha Schadt Kleveno, she was born August 15, 1939 in Warwick.  She was the widow of Louis Towner, who predeceased her on October 30, 1996.

 

She is survived by a son: Louis D. Towner & his fiancé Bernadette Tirpak of Monticello; five grandchildren: Dana, Beth, Jessica, Nicole and Brittany; seven great grandchildren; a brother: Randy Kleveno of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Julie A. Laymon; her brothers, Robert, Ronald and Richard Kleveno; and her longtime companion, Thomas Kutzman.

 

Private interment of her ashes will be held at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties www.hospiceoforange.com
