Obituary of Viola Peters
Viola Peters, a retired corrections officer at Rikers Island in New York City, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at her home in Rock Hill. She was 64.
The daughter of the late Jesse Branch and Cora Lee Still, she was born August 11, 1956 in New York City.
A loving mother and wife. Mom was the kindest strongest and most loving mother you could ever hope for. Through trials and triumphs the one person we knew would be there for us was mom. She gave all she had to all those she loved. Our hearts are broken but the wonderful memories will always remain.
She is survived by her two children: Kera Peters and Brian Peters; her
Siblings, Sandra, Mojica and Cleveland Still and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, with a funeral service starting at 11am. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home, and facemasks are required. Burial will follow at the Liberty Cemetery.
