Obituary of Maureen Yolanda Mattison

Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Maureen Yolanda Mattison, a.k.a  “Tatty”, a retired housekeeper for the Concord Resort Hotel, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty New York.  She was sixty eight.

Maureen was the daughter of the late Herman Mattison and Leila Roache-Mattison.  She also received great guidance and care from her late grandmother Daisy Roache,  who assisted while mom and dad was away. Maureen Mattison was born January 31, 1953 in Kingston, Jamaica where she attended Papine Jr. Secondary School.  Maureen was married to Albert Wong, now deceased.  Although Tatty did not have any children of  her own, she managed to raise five step-children from her husband.  After migrating to the USA Maureen became a lifelong resident of Monticello, New York, where she called home and loved dearly. She was loved by many of her family and friends of the community. Tatty had three sisters and two brothers. The older sisters are Jenny Morris who passed away 2018,  and Jolly Birch who passed away 2011, her older brother Philip Mattison deceased 2008.   Maureen is survived by her Brother Michael Mattison, Sister Jennifer Blake, Nephews, Ronald Smith, Jamal Colon, Niece Nafeesah Blake and many more nieces and nephews.  Tatty had five aunts and three uncles.  Her surviving aunts,  Mrs. Hilda Arscott, and Mrs, Pearline Thompson,  and an uncle, Uncle Frank Roache.   The cousins and other close family members can only be described as NUMEROUS.

While Maureen was attending school, she showed quite an aptitude for her english language and spellings.   She was an avid reader of many novels and  other books such as Hardy boys and Nancy Drews.    Maureen was very clean in her habits,  that is, she always liked a clean surrounding.    She was very soft spoken and extremely kind and sympathetic, she would give the shirt off her back if she thinks you need it.
