Linda M. Vassello of Mongaup Valley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 26, 2021 in the Town of Bethel, NY at the age of 68.
The daughter of the late Daniel Vassello and Betty Miller Vassello, she was born March 31, 1953 in Yonkers, NY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Kenneth McKenna and brother, Daniel Vassello.
Linda was an entrepreneur and maintained her own cleaning business in Sullivan County for decades. A dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Linda’s generosity knew no bounds; she gave freely to others from a place of love. Linda was an advocate for animals, she believed that animals were everyone’s responsibility and adopted many abandoned pets. An avid gardener, Linda’s attention to her plants resulted in lush, thriving indoor plants as well as plentiful vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Linda showed her love by giving thoughtful gifts throughout the year; baking cookies and pies to give during the holidays, growing and giving vegetables and flowers or offering her time to help someone in need. More of Linda’s attributes were her sense of humor, wit, and ability to speak her mind; Linda’s capacity for compassion was tremendous and she often put others needs before her own. Linda’s family is heartbroken at the loss of her presence and energy, and she will continue to be missed.
She is survived by a daughter: Georgia McKenna; a grandson: Domenic McKenna, and two brothers: Douglas Vassello (Sharon) and Paul Vassello (Lucy) along with several nieces & nephews.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Mamakating Town Park, 27-29 Mamakating Rd. Bloomingburg, NY 12721, Building A, on June 26, 2021. Gathering time with light refreshments will begin at 3:00 PM and a memorial service led by Rev. Amy Garrett of the Sparrowbush Methodist Church will begin at 4:00 PM. Additional time to gather and share stories to follow.
