Obituary of Carol A. Galietta
We regretfully announce the passing of Carol A. Galietta of Middletown, NY on April 10th, 2021. Carol was surrounded by her loving family and passed away peacefully.
Carol was born on January 1st, 1936 to Robert & Marie Covart of Bethel, NY and was one of ten children. At an early age, Carol found interest in art and by 9 years old she was entering art contests. She attributed her creative abilities to her parents who encouraged her to stop, see, explore and touch the natural beauty of the untouched countryside and to God who showed her how far she could go in her pursuit of art.
On February 28, 1976 she married the love of her life, Anthony Galietta and relocated to Middletown, NY where they built a beautiful life, full with love and dedication to family. They were doting grandparents who played active roles in their grandchildren's lives.
Carol worked for many years as a waitress at the Villa Sienna, Archie's and the Glen Spa. She also shared her artistic talent by instructing others at the New Windsor Recreation Center and at Mount St. Mary's College. She continued to pursue her passion for art by attending art courses and workshops at Orange Community College as well as various other artistic institutions. She specialized in oil, graphics, acrylics and watercolor paints and participated in numerous judged art shows, winning over 40 awards and 2 awards in excellence. She also won "Artist on Campus" awards at Mount St Mary College in 1988, 1991 and 1992. As her talent grew, she was selected to judge numerous art shows. Her art affiliations include Middletown Art Group (Past President, Vice President, Secretary), Orange County Art Federation (Past President, Vice President, Secretary), Warwick Art League, Kent Art Association, Catskill Art League, Goshen Art Group, Garrison Art Center, and Pike County Art Association.
In addition to her love for art, Carol also enjoyed going to church, tending to her flowers and spending quality time with her family. She was a member of the Fosterdale Methodist Church.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Carla (& Jack) Shafer, Alan (& Cindy) Wingert and Dale (& Kim) Wingert; her sister Susan (& Ed) Gabriel; her lifelong friend Eileen Commerford; her 8 grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her adoring husband Tony, her parents Marie and Robert Covart, her brothers Lee, Donald, Robert, James, Leslie and Alan, sisters; Loretta and Grace, her great grandson Logan Wingert and her infant son Raymond.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 24th at 11am at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Rte 9W, Newburgh, NY.
Due to Covid19, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fosterdale Methodist Church, 62 Old County Road, Cochecton, NY 12726.
