Obituary of Margaret M. Horne

Margaret M. “Maggie” Horne of Bloomingburg, a retired secretary, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown.  She was 86.

 

The daughter of the late Charles Latimer and Christina O’Sullivan Latimer, she was born September 3, 1934 in Brooklyn.  She was the widow of Robert Horne who predeceased her in 1985.

 

Maggie was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was the beloved Director of the Religious Education Program for many years.  She was a pillar of the church, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed, especially with the Summerfest Flea Market which raised thousands of dollars for the church over the years.

 

She is survived by a son: Peter J. Cavalier & his wife Sandra of Bloomingburg; four grandchildren: Christopher Cavalier, Jennifer Lucas & her husband Jason, Peter Cavalier and Kelly Cavalier; two great grandchildren: Tyler and Braedan; three brothers: Charles, Francis and Michael Latimer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Kevin, Bobby, Vinny, Tommy & Raymond, and a sister Dinah.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.  Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31 at 11am at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, High Street in Bloomingburg. Burial will follow at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.  Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home and at the church, and facemasks are required.               

                                                                                      

Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Catholic Charities.
