Obituary of Lester Allen Fairchild Sr.

Lester Allen Fairchild Sr. of Ferndale, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Towns of Gardiner and Plattekill, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 in Harris.  He was 83.

 

The son of the late Lester Fairchild and Dorothy Schaeffer Fairchild, he was born July 9, 1937 in Nyack. 

 

Lester was a veteran of the United States Army; however his greatest accomplishment was his children who he loved dearly.  He enjoyed spending time with his whole family, especially at all the family barbeques. Dad was a very hard-working man and that he was always thinking about his family. And he loved his tin butter cookies!

 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Joan Pitt Fairchild; their children: Nancy Fields of West Virginia, Allen Fairchild & his wife Judy of Monticello, Dorothy Hulbert of Liberty, Kristine Deyo & her husband David of New Windsor, and Laura Linkous of Georgia; ten grandchildren: Steven, Kyle, Paul, Tony, Cindy, Vicky, Jason, Crystal, Ashley and Sara; a stepbrother: Butch Fairchild; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Walter Fairchild, Betty Ann Fairchild and Charlie Fairchild.

 

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
