Obituary of Margaret Golden

Margaret "Peggy" Golden of North Branch died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 89.The daughter of the late Percy Bowers and Elizabeth Breen Bowers, she was born July 7, 1920 in Glen Wild. She was the widow of Jack Golden who predeceased her in 1986.Peggy worked for several years as a waitress at the Miss Monticello Diner and in a radio factory during the War and after marrying Jack; she devoted her life to her family. She later moved to Florida in the late 1980's spending a lot of time with her companion Ralph; he being a trumpet player and both being active in ballroom dancing until Ralph passed away in 2006.She is survived by a son: Jim Golden & his wife Anne Bei Golden of North Egremont, Mass.; a daughter: Patty Armstrong & her husband Frank Armstrong of Roscoe; a sister: Dorothy Driscoll of Kauneonga Lake; two grandchildren: Katie and Peter; a great grandson: Kade; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 11:00am at the funeral home.
