Obituary of Margaret M. Bott

Margaret M. Bott, PhD, 77, of Harrisburg, PA, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Dr. Bott was a retired psychologist for the Commonwealth of PA at the former Harrisburg State Hospital, where she developed animal assistance therapy for State institutions. She was a former teacher, professor and educator and a graduate of St. Joseph's Mountain School, Forestburgh, NY, obtained her Bachelors Degree from St. John's University, Magna Cum Laude, her Masters of Science in Education at Hunter College, City of New York, and her Doctorate of Psychology from Michigan State University. She was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg, PA, where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Oblate of St. Benedict and the National and Pennsylvania Psychology Association. Dr. Bott was the daughter of the late William F. Bott, Sr. and Kathryn R. Toomey Bott and is survived by one brother, William F. Bott, Jr. of Forestburgh, NY, and her beloved dog, Carolina Moon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, at 12 noon at St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church in Forestburgh, NY with Rev. Ivan Csete as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Forestburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS, PO Box 855, Camp Hill, PA 17001.
