Jurdy F. McGruder of Monticello, a retired elementary school teacher, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Sullivan Co. Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 78.
The daughter of the late Zelma & Nancy Cofield, she was born October 22, 1930 in Chambers County, Alabama.
She is survived by her husband: Alphonso Z. McGruder, at home; two sons: Alphonso Z. McGruder Jr. and Jonathan D. McGruder; two daughters: Janice E. Castro and Lois Ann McGruder; nine grandchildren; a sister: Annie Ruth Cox; eight nephews; and four nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 4:00pm at the Monticello Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 174 Park Avenue in Monticello.
Burial will be held at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, 25 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
