My name is Debbie Estrada and I used to visit alot at Elant and often talked with John.
I haven't been there is a few months, but he was such a nice man.
I will always remember him because one night we were playing a game and he recited this:
I bought a wooden whistle and it "wouldn't" whistle.
I bought a steal whistle and "steal" I couldn't whistle.
I bought a tin whistle and now I "tin" whistle!
The next time I saw him I asked him to recite it for me so I could write it down. I knew
I'd never remember it, it was such a cute verse. So I wrote it down and when I saw his
name in the obituaries, I knew I had to tell of my memory of him. So I searched and found
my written down poem in my belongings and here it is.
I always found it interesting to talk with him. At night he would always get some HOT water
because he said it was good for you.
