Obituary of Edward Joseph Vogelsberg

Edward Joseph Vogelsberg, Jr., a retired machine shop instructor for Wallkill Correctional Facility, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at his home in Rock Hill. He was 77. The son of the late Edward J. Vogelsberg Sr. and Caroline Kelchner Vogelsberg, he was born September 2, 1931 in Brooklyn. He was the widower of Jacqueline Skae Vogelsberg who predeceased him on April 23, 1987. He is survived by two sons: Baron Vogelsberg of La Crosse, WI and Earl Vogelsberg of Shirley, Long Island; two daughters: Valerie Panek of Brooklyn and Sally Jaye Vogelsberg of Cary, NC; nine grandchildren: Elisa, Raymond, Malcolm, Sam, Timothy, Griffin, George, Lori & Jacqueline; two great grandchildren: Alexa & Sophia; a brother: Robert Vogelsberg of Albuquerque, NM; a sister: Sally Mary Vogelsberg of Jamesport, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a good friend of Bill W for over 40 years and the family would like to recognize his ever faithful longtime comrade Rick S for being such a great friend and a strong influence in his life. The family also sends its sincere thanks to Dottie and others who were close to him through the years. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23 from 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 24 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will be held at a later date at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, 25 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
