Obituary of Gerard Joseph Warren

Gerard Joseph Warren, a retired postal worker for the United States Postal Service in Manhattan, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at his home in Monticello. He was 90. The son of the late Daniel Warren and Loretta Connors Warren, he was born June 10, 1918 in Queens. He was the widower of Frances Warren who predeceased him in 1989. Gerard was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, earning good conduct medals, two bronze stars and a purple heart. After high school he became a shift foreman at Remington Arms in Bridgeport, CT on the 50-caliber line. Upon retiring from the Postal service he moved to Monticello and operated Warren's Apartments on Dunbar Road for many years. He is survived by a son: Wayne R. Warren of Monticello; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers: Daniel, Alfred, Phillip & William; and two sisters: Evelyn & Joan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
