Benjamin Miller Horton, of Wurtsboro died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris surrounded by his family and friends. He was 68. The son of the late Benjamin Wilbur Horton and Eleanor Orvilla Miller Horton, he was born June 4, 1940 in Middletown. Ben was raised on the family dairy farm in Highview, graduated from Middletown High School in 1958. He attended Delhi College for a short time but returned home to work on the family dairy farm until the late 1970's. He worked for the Town of Mamakating Highway Dept for 18 years until his retirement. During his retirement he spent his time with his family and friends. Ben was an avid hunter, member of the Dairyman's League Assoc., the FFA and the Community Church of Bloomingburg. He was also a landowner for the Mamakating Conservation Club and a past Captain and honorary member of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept. Ben was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Patricia Ann Lindsay Horton, at home; two sons: Benjamin D. Horton & his wife Shannon of Roanoke, VA and James Lindsay Horton & his wife Julie of Ringgold, GA; three daughters: Diana Duffy & her husband Steve of Hortonville, Denise Brouillard and her friend Robert Murphy of Walker Valley and Nancy Hufcut and her husband Michael of Circleville; 15 grandchildren: Kyle, Kelle, Jacob, Joshua, Devon, Michael, Connor, Dylan, James Robert, Ryanne, Alex, Morgan, Faith Anne, Liam, & Blake Miller; a sister: Barbara Barber of Bloomingburg; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5 from 3-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mamakating First Aid Squad, P.O.
