Obituary of George Joseph DeSio

George Joseph DeSio of Wurtsboro, a retired operating engineer for Local Union 137 in New York City, died Sunday, November 18, 2102 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 85.
The son of the late Ignatius DeSio and Catherine DeMao DeSio, he was born May 7, 1927 in Manhattan.
A World War II veteran, George was a member of the American Legion Post, Mamakating; a member of St. Joseph's Church where he served in the Holy Name Society; and was the former chief court officer for the Town of Mamakating.
He is survived by his wife: Eileen Kelly DeSio, at home; five daughters: Georgetta DeSio of Middletown, Denise DeSio of Wurtsboro, Michele DeSio of Wurtsboro, Ginny DeSio of Wurtsboro, and Cathy DeSio of Worcester, MA; five grandchildren: Annette DiMuro, Gina McCauly, Denine Tancredi, Doreen Falgiano and Danielle Falgiano; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter: Rita DeSio Minikel, a grandson: George Joseph Donato, two brothers: Mikey and Tommy, and four sisters: Carmella, Fannie, Edith and Annie.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, November 20th from 2-4 & 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21 at 11am at St. Joseph's Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
