Obituary of Florence O. Gordon

Florence Olive Gordon, known to her family and friends as Flossie, a retired legal secretary, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at her home in Rock Hill at the age of 82. The daughter of the late Clarence Gordon and Florabel Case Gordon, she was born February 6, 1926 in Rock Hill. After graduating from Monticello High School, Ms. Gordon went to work for the Law Offices of Weiss & Costa in Monticello, which eventually became known as the Law Offices of Ingber & Lagrenne, and continued to work there before retiring after 60 years of service. She was a member of the Sullivan County Legal Secretaries Association and attended the United Methodist Church of Rock Hill. A world traveler, she also loved to entertain and play golf. She is survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces & nephews; and a large circle of close friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters: Hazel Piper, Mildred Elliott & Pearl Blenis; and two brothers: Andrew Gordon and Walter Gordon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
