Elizabeth Coffey, a retired nurses aide and longtime resident of the area, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 100 years old. The daughter of the late Daniel Skelly and Annie Hanly Skelly, she was born November 1, 1907 in Ireland. When she was living in Jeffersonville for a while, Mrs. Coffey attended St. Georges Catholic Church there; and was the widow of William Coffey. She is survived by her son: James W. Coffey & his wife Karen of Ferndale; and also many relatives in Ireland. She was predeceased by all of her siblings. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00am at St. Peters Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. John Tran officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peters Cemetery in Monticello. Memorial contributions can be made to any local Catholic church. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
