Jack Finnema passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at his home in Bloomingburg surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. The son of the late Anne Finnema and Ynkje Vanderheide Finnema, he was born November 10, 1921 in Heidenschap the Netherlands. Jack worked for more than 30 years on Maiers dairy farm in Bloomingburg and was a member of the Community Church of Bloomingburg. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Hilda Schots Finnema, at home; a son: Andre Finnema & his wife Cynthia of Bloomingburg; a daughter: Nancy Plocharczyk & her husband Charles of Burlingham; a granddaughter: Jodi Robinholt; step-grandchildren: David Plocharczyk and Susan Spohn; two sisters: Aaltje De Boer Finnema and Grietje Bakker Finnema, both of the Netherlands; and many nieces and nephews in America and the Netherlands. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Arjen and Anne; and three sisters: Tjitske, Dieuwke and Jacoba, all of the Netherlands. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Hewitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
