Emma Gertrude Goetschius of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Middletown Park Manor in Middletown. She was 98. The daughter of the late James Mackey and Edith June Mackey, she was born April 6, 1909 in Stony Point. Emma is survived by a son: Charles T. Goetschius, Sr. & his wife Helene of Bloomingburg; two daughters: Mildred Blake of Bloomingburg and Sue Ann Hitzel & her husband Mark of Hesperia, CA; fourteen grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: James Alvin Goetschius; and a son: Robert Goetschius; Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
