Jimmie Lou Kimmons, 73,a loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on New Years Eve with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Leonard Hollings & Jimmie Johnson Hollings. Jimmie Lou grew up in Alabama with a family that included 15 brothers and sisters. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello for over 40 years, where she became known as Mother Kimmons. She was also a member of Mason Chapel Baptist Church in Leakesville Mississippi, where the Rev. Lee Auther Taylor officiated. She worked at the Cooke School for 37 years until her retirement, where she watched over all of the children with genuine love. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Shellie Kimmons Jr. and was also a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and truly a wonderful friend to everyone. She was a devoted servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories to her three sons, Robert & wife Connie of Olympia WA, Shelton & Helene of Monticello and Port Chester, and Sherman & wife Robin of Monticello; her adopted son: Reggie Horace of Monticello; her godson: DJ Pugh of Monticello; her brothers: Dennis & wife Trudy Hollings, Ledell & wife Juanita of Mississippi, Leonard & wife Verdine Virgil Hollings of Alabama; her sisters: Sarah Pruitt, Henretta & husband Earnest Hook of Alabama, Sylvia Mclemore of Leakesville Mississippi with whom she enjoyed a special home with until recently. Her grandchildren: Keisha, Michelle, Shelton Jr, Stephen, Victor, Bryan and William, Tony, Margaret, Jen, Michael, Brandon, Ian and Megan. She was predeceased by her brothers: Jack, Clinton, Vernell & Quzon Hollings and her sisters: Margaret, Johonnie Lee & Narvie Williams. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the First Baptist Church, Liberty Street in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 11:00am at the church with her beloved pastor, Rev. James Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Monticello. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.
