Obituary of Angela Giarrusso

Angela Giarrusso, a retired dressmaker and former resident of Monticello, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn. She was 88. The daughter of the late Vito Giarrusso and Concetta Ventura Giarrusso, she was born October 12, 1919 in Sicily, Italy. A family statement reads: Mom had hands of gold and a heart of gold to all who knew her. She is survived by her two daughters: Georgianna Serrone & her husband Nat of Lake City, FL and Ramona Pool & her husband Steve of Tucson, AZ; a brother: Joseph Giarrusso of Brooklyn; two sisters: Louise Giordano of New Jersey and Santina Savona of Staten Island; nine grandchildren: Anthony, Catherine, Nicholas, Cara, Robert, Teresa, Vito, Christopher & Mona; seven great grandchildren: Krissy, Joseph, Nicholas, Christian, Cosmo, Vito & Michaela Angelina; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: John Giarrusso & Gregory Giarrusso. Visitation will be on Friday, January 4 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5 at 10:00am at St. Peters Church, Broadway & Liberty Street in Monticello. Fr. Robert Ginel will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery in Monticello.
