Obituary of Charlotte Backer Murran

Charlotte Backer Murran, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Monticello, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris after a short illness. She was 91. The daughter of the late Carl and Emile Backer, she was born July 7, 1916 in the Bronx. Charlotte was the widow of John J. Murran who predeceased her on July 28, 1997, and was also a member of St. Peters Church in Monticello. She is the beloved mother of a son: John A. Murran Sr. & his wife Jeanette; and a daughter: Joan Reuss & her husband Jack; a brother: William Backer; and a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Debbie Braught & her husband Bruce, John Murran Jr. and his fianc Karen, Patti Bock & her husband Kenny, Ed Murran, Randy Murran & his wife Rachel, Cindy Atkins & her husband Terry, John S. Reuss III & his wife Lisa, Ronald Reuss & his wife Debra; 15 great grandchildren: Kira Bivens, Bruce and Chris Braught, John A. Murran III, Scott and Amber Bock, Kimberly, Caitlin & Ed Murran Jr., Robert Riley, Randy and Jaiden Murran, Chelsea and Sean Reuss and Stacey Reuss; and several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27 from 7:00 to 9:00pm the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Monticello.
