Obituary of Thomas David Hust

Thomas David Tom Hust entered eternal rest on June 28, 2007, after a strenuous battle with cancer.
The son of the late Ernest and Frances (Hoffmann) Hust, he was born in Callicoon on August 17, 1937.
Tom retired after 27 years as a New York State Racing and Wagering Judge at Monticello Raceway. He loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed. Always a people person, he tended bar for many years in and around Monticello, but his passion was Golf. When not on the course, he enjoyed the comradery of the game at the course 19th hole. He was also a member of the Monticello BPOE Elks Lodge #1544, where he served as Exalted Ruler from 1970- 1971.
He is survived by two daughters: Karen Michel of Grahamsville, Kathy Moore & her husband Walter of Liberty and their mother Norine Michel; three grandsons: Derek and Brenden Moore of Grahamsville and Cameron Moore of Liberty; three sisters: Phyllis Hulse of Florida, Joe Anne Baker of Youngsville and Mary (Hust) Jensen of Binghamton; two brothers: Richard Hust of California and Fritz Hust of Binghamton; a step-sister: Rita Eileen Ohman of Equinunk, Pa and a step-brother: Donald (Fred) Hoffmann of Hankins; along with many, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers: Robert Hust and Patrick Hoffmann; two stepbrothers: Richard and Edwin Hoffmann; his stepfather: Charles Hoffmann; and stepmother: Sophie Hust.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2 from 2-4 and 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., NY, NY 10021, the American Cancer Society, 419 E. Main St., Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940 or the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 828, Monticello, NY 12701.
