Obituary of Alma Irene Wright

Alma Irene Wright died on Sunday, April 29, 2007 after complications from a stroke. Alma was born in Jamalpur, India to Beatrice Radasca of Lake Cuomo, Italy and Robert Brooks of London, England. She lived and worked many years as a journalist in Calcutta and then England. She came to the States in 1966 where she resided in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, retiring after many years at Time, Inc., and then moved permanently to her home in Wurtsboro. Alma is survived by her husband: Joseph L. Wright; her beloved daughter and son-in-law: Larry D. Wiackley & Tracey Wright-Wiackley of Wurtsboro; a daughter: Lolla Dawe of Charante, France; a sister: Audrey Wiley of Melbourne, Australia; a brother: Keith of Dorset, England; her most cherished grandchildren: Larry P. Wiackley of Wurtsboro, Julie Green of England, and Tony Thomson of England; her great grandchildren: Frankee April Lidster, Katie & Jason Thomson, all of England, and Gianna DeMaio & Logan DeMaio Wiackley of Wurtsboro. Alma was predeceased be her beloved twin sister: Edna MeMe Collins and grandson: Frank Wrench. Those who knew Alma know of her heart of gold and her passion for animals. She will leave a giant void in the lives of those she touched with her gentle loving ways. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 2 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. A funeral service will be held at some point during the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Equine Rescue, Inc. P.O.
