Ralph S. Breakey Jr., a retired general manager for Monticello Photo, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at his home in Monticello. He was 81. The son of the late Dr. Ralph S. Breakey, Sr. and Madeline ONeil Breakey, he was born August 15, 1925 in Monticello. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was a 60+ year member and current Post Commander of the American Legion Ruddick-Trowbridge Post #73 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Bailey-Richman Post #9588 in Monticello; a member of the Monticello Fire Department; Monticello Elks Lodge #1544; the Masons, the Shriners; and was an alumnus of both Paul Smiths College and New England College; and a former deputy for the Sullivan County Sheriff. He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Edith Cross Breakey, at home; a daughter: Debra Henderson & her husband Joel of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three sons: John Breakey & his wife Laurie of Wilmington, DE, Shawn Breakey and Brian Breakey, both of Georgia; three stepsons: Earl Conklin, Jr. & his wife Clarese, Victor Marinello & his fianc Loretta Young and John Marinello, all of Monticello; five grandchildren: Jennifer Harp & her husband Galen of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Edith Koen, Antonia Heininger & her husband Jeffrey, Earl Conklin III & his wife Lindsay and Jonathan Conklin; two great grandchildren: Derick Koen and Alexander Heininger; his sister: Barbara Katz & her husband Rubin of Monticello; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a son: Ralph S. Breakey III. Visitation will be on Monday, March 19 from 1-3 and 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Various fraternal organizations will hold their services on Monday evening at the funeral home. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital at Shriners International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
