Obituary of Mary Messenger

Mary Messenger of Monticello, a retired telephone operator at the Hamilton Avenue Hospital, died Wednesday, January 16, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 80.
The daughter of the late Thomas Colo and Lena Basney Colo, she was born March 1, 1933 in Bethel.
Mary was a member of the United States Trotting Association.
She is survived by her husband: Claude; two sons: Claude "Ne" Messenger & his wife Janet, and Gary Messenger and his wife Brenda, all of Monticello; five grandchildren: Michael (Mollie) Messenger, Brian (Flo) Messenger, Neil (Shannon) Messenger, John Howard (Veronica) Messenger and Dylan Messenger; nine great grandchildren; and a sister: Lillian Coney of Liberty.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 18 from 1-3pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her memorial service will begin at 3:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating.
