Obituary of Joy Hann

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, Elizabeth Joy Hann entered into eternal rest to meet her Lord and Savior after a brief illness, with her loving family around her. Joy was born on July 31, 1923 in Middletown, N.Y. She was the second daughter of Warner Knight Morgans and Mildred Deane Moore Morgans. She graduated from Middletown High School and Penn Hall College, where she majored in music and organ.
Joy married Joseph H. Hann in June, 1949 and they settled in Wurtsboro, N.Y. She was the organist and choir director and member of the Dutch Reformed Church, now the Community Church of Wurtsboro. She volunteered for the Mamakating Ambulance Corps and was a partner in her husband's business, The Mamakating Agency.
Joy will be dearly missed by her children, her son Joseph H. Hann, Jr. and his wife Ceil of Plantsville, CT, and daughter Deane Hann Poirier and her husband Maurice of Meriden, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Olson, Juliette Buccilli and her husband Michael, and Blaine Poirier and by her great grandchildren, Jonathan Olson and Gemma Buccilli. She will also be missed by her sister, Cynthia Morgans Galloway and her husband Clark of Delmar, N.Y. nephew Stewart Galloway and his wife Julie of Round Lake, N.Y., and sister in law, Barbara Hann Quimby of Middletown, N.Y. and dear cousin, Roger Moore of Sarasota, Florida. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph, niece Marguerite (Meg) Galloway Candrea and granddaughter, Andrea Joy Poirier.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Apple Rehab, Plainville and the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT for their wonderful care.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 18 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 11am at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions cane be made to the Community Church of Wurtsboro, P.O. Box 487, Wurtsboro, NY 12790.
