Obituary of Jack Weathers

Jack Weathers, "Papa Dee" of Monticello, a former custodian at the Hamilton Ave. Hospital and Catskill Regional Medical Center, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Harris. He was 84. The son of the late Isaac Weathers and Marie Bailey Weathers, he was born November 7, 1928 in Charleston, SC. He was a member and Deacon of the Monticello Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Florence Gilchrist Weathers, at home; two daughters: Vivian Weathers Williams & her husband Eddie of Walstonburg, NC, and Shirley Weathers of Monticello; Grandchildren: Monique Hyacinthe, Erica Pace, Tiffany Weathers, Kalondra Smith, Ellore Weathers, Kenesha Simpson and Trawnda Childs; 9 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 step great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sons: Jerome Weathers, Henry Weathers and Latif Muhammad (Harold Weathers); his sisters: Grace Williams, Dorothy Bailey, Frances Bailey, Wilhelmina Mikell and Phyllis Pickney; his brothers: Clifford Bailey Jr., Alexander Bailey and Julius Bailey; and a grandson: Derrick Finn. Family & friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 30 from 11am - 1pm at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 26 Liberty Street in Monticello. His service will begin at 1:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the family would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
