Edward John Lubniewski Jr. of Smallwood passed away on July 15, 2019 after a long illness. Ed was a graduate of Monticello High School and Sullivan County Community College. He served one term in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. When he returned home, he was a surveyor for the County and then started his own construction and excavating company for many years. Ed joined the Smallwood/Mongaup Valley Fire Dept. in 1967 and served as chief for three terms in the late 1970s-80s. He was instrumental in building the fire department's ball field in Mongaup Valley. He was passionate about anything involving nature and protecting the environment. He loved hunting at his hunting camp, Hooks & Bullets. He will be missed by many friends from Smallwood. Ed was predeceased by his parents, the late Edward Lubniewski Sr. and Frances Lubniewski. He is survived by the love of this life, Mary Lynn Parks (who is a saint) and we thank her for loving and caring for Ed for all those years. He is also survived by a sister, Rose (Bob) Allan of Florida; a brother, James of Florida; and a sister, Judy (Bob) Timberger of New Windsor; and a daughter, Jessica; and a granddaughter, Liv both of Hudson; as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be planned for some time in the near future. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
