Obituary of Margarete Striano

Margarete Striano, born July 28, 1921, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at her home in Wurtsboro Hills at the age of 97. Daughter of William and Meta Tietjen Rademacher, Margarete was 17 when she met Ralph Striano, age 19. They were separated for 3 ½ years by WW2. While Ralph served, Margarete worked in Nebraska for the US Naval Dept. They married in April, 1946 at Holy Name Church in Brooklyn. A member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro, she was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, Member and Past President of the Ave Maria Guild, and Life-Member of the VFW Post 4947 Ladies Auxiliary. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by a son Donald & his wife Kate of Sandy Hook, CT; grandson Keith & his wife Danielle of Englishtown, NJ; grandson Benjamin and Michelle Serock of Woodbury, CT; great grandchildren Gabriella and Nicholas. Please join family & friends on Monday, June 10 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Church, P.O.
