Obituary of Wayne T. Heins

Wayne Thomas Heins, a lifelong resident of Monticello died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 74. The son of the late William Heins Sr. and Eleanor Hudson Allan, he was born November 25, 1938 in Monticello. A veteran of the United States Army , Wayne was a member of the Monticello Exempt Fireman's Association and the BPOE Monticello Elk's Lodge #1544. He was the former owner of the Hotel Victoria Bar in Monticello, and most recently worked at Rialto Liquors in Monticello and 52 Liquors in Liberty. A loving husband, father and grandfather whose sarcastic sense of humor made people laugh and smile, he is now smiling down on all of us. He is survived by his wife: Sheila, at home; two daughters: Pam Murran & her husband Jim of Rock Hill and Wendy Wells & her husband Dave of Monticello; a son: John Chevalier & his wife Angela of Neversink; four grandchildren: Alison & Megan Wells, Anthony and Allyson Chevalier; four brothers:, William Heins Jr. (Judy) of Michigan, Peter Sheppard (Anne) of Deerpark, James Sheppard (Joyce) of Schenectady, and Robert Heins (Shelley) of White Plains; four sisters: Patricia Lawrence (Mal Z) of Monticello, Sally Jasuta (David) of Forestburgh, Eleanor Vallone of Hicksville and Elizabeth Verrier (Steve) of Teaneck, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepmother: Emily Carolyn Heins; a brother: Peter F. Heins Sr.; and his stepfather: Peter Allan. Family & friends are invited to gather on Sunday, September 8 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Kersten officiating. Interment of his ashes with military honors will be held on Sunday, September 15 at 1pm at the Sullivan Co. Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road in Liberty.
