Obituary of Otto Peter Weiss

Otto Peter Weiss, retired owner of Rapid Food Service, Inc. in Mahwah, NJ and Eastern Pest Control, Inc. in Highland Mills, NY, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his home in Rock Hill surrounded by his family. He was 80. The son of the late Charles Weiss and Lucy Neidhart Weiss, he was born April 26, 1938 in Fort Lee, NJ. An avid gardener, Otto was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 61 years: Mary Ellen Callahan Weiss, at home; their children: Anne & Richard Czaplinksi, Susan & William Lightner, Daniel & Susan Weiss, Donna & Emelido Roman, Edward Weiss, Jeanne & Darren Petty, Peter & Cassia Weiss, Barbara & Fred Kehoe, and Jill & Edward Schuk; 24 grandchildren: Stephen, Dianna, Mathew, Karren, James, William Jr., Andrew, Reggie, Melissa, Stephanie, Emilee, Brian, Michelle, Justin, Shannon, Darren, Victoria, Rachael, Kyle, Chazalina, Sven, Jaquelyn, Thomas and Jeremy; 20 great grandchildren; his siblings: Ellen Lauterback, Robert Weiss, John Weiss and James Weiss; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son: Stephen; a daughter: Mary; siblings: Henry Weiss, Charles Weiss, Lucy Palazzolo, August Weiss, Anna Taus, William Weiss and Christian Weiss. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, December 23 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 24 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. John Tran officiating.
