Obituary of Patricia E. Barnett
Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Elizabeth Barnett of Wurtsboro, New York died peacefully of natural causes, at her home surrounded by her loved ones on November 9th, 2018.
Patricia was born in Astoria, New York on March 12th, 1939 to parents James And Emma (Brown) Dowling of Astoria, New York. Patricia was the devoted wife of the late John J. Barnett who passed away in 1998. They had a love like no other. Every Friday my father would bring my mom flowers. They loved traveling and enjoyed going out to dance, which I'm sure they are having a dance now.
Patricia worked her way up in the banking business to become the first female Vice President of Independence Savings and Loan. Patricia was always looking to help out others, she was a part of a Knitting group who donated blankets they made to the Veterans of hospice to give them comfort, knitting baby hats and booties for the babies in the hospital. She was amazing at creating beautiful hand knitted items that we will always be cherished by many along with her family.
Patricia met an amazing man named Paul Mader who passed away in 2004 - Paul filled my mother's life with laughter and joy. They enjoy going out to dinner and senior events together and having a fun game of rummikub, Paul would try to cheat and of course mom always knew he was hiding that joker. I will miss hearing them both laugh. We will miss you terribly Mama, We will always carry you in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her son Scott Barnett, son Keith and his wife Lori Barnett; a daughter Kelli and her husband Jose (Papo) Ortiz; and her two grandchildren Brian and Gianna.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
