Obituary of Patrick J. Oefelein Sr.

Patrick James Oefelein Sr, loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a retired project manager for STV, Inc. in New York City, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home in Monticello. He was 59.

The son of the late James Oefelein and Mary Lydon Oefelein, he was born April 7, 1959 in Staten Island.

Patrick lived near Swinging Bridge Lake where his family owned the Starlite Marina for many years. He cherished working at the marina with his loved ones. He could repair anything and demonstrated his extraordinary skills his entire life. He started as a Marine Mechanic and retired as an operations manager overseeing major construction projects in New York State.

Patrick was never too busy to drop what he was doing to help anyone in an emergency. He was a wonderful man and will be intensely missed. He was also a proud member of the Smallwood Mongaup Valley Fire Department Fire Police.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Klemen Oefelein; daughter Melissa Oefelein; son Patrick Oefelein & his wife Patricia; three grandchildren: Leland, Sara, and Emilie; his siblings: Michael Oefelein and his wife Mary, James Oefelein, Linda Oefelein Geysen and her husband Daniel, and William Oefelein; his mother-in-law: Cecile Klemen; and many brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.

Family & friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, October 10 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a prayer service beginning at 6:30pm.
