Obituary of Katherine G. Hairie

Katherine G. Hairie, the former owner of Lynn's Flowers in Wurtsboro, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home in Wurtsboro. She was 83. The daughter of the late James Seaman and Kate Johnson Seaman, she was born January 20, 1935 in Passaic, NJ. Katherine will be greatly missed by her family and friends, as she was the shine in our hearts and the glitter in our smiles. Her love and laughter were contagious, and she was everyone's Grandma or Auntie Katherine. She was truly loved by all. Her greatest accomplishment was her and her husband opening a local business in the village of Wurtsboro in 1980. From there she became such a big part of the community by the joy she brought to everyone with her beautiful flowers. The motto was "We Deliver Smiles" and that brought her happiness, bringing a smile to everyone's face. She lost her grandson Kevin Jr. "Bubby" (she always called him "My Baby") last month which brought her great heartache and we hope they are both resting in peace together in Heaven looking down on us. She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Mark M. Hairie, at home; a daughter: Lynnette J. Manto; a son: George Simpson; her stepchildren: Leon Hairie and Adrenne Roane; all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, in whose hearts and memories she will live on forever. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a stepson: Jeffrey; two grandsons: Killian & Kevin; and 2 brothers & 1 sister. Family & friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 28 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Although flowers were very important to her family and are encouraged, memorial contributions can also be made to St. Joseph's Church, P.O. Box 277, Wurtsboro, NY 12790 in memory of Katherine.
