Obituary of Doreen Lee Holifield

Doreen Lee Comfort Holifield, a former waitress, entered into rest on Friday, September 7, 2018 at her home in Monticello. The daughter of the late Clarence E. Comfort and Ida M. Rose Comfort, she was born September 17, 1959 in Port Jervis. Doreen was an artistic soul with a passion for the Green Bay Packers and her church. She led an adventurous life and was filled with love. She is survived by her devoted dog Dodger; beloved cat Garfield; her son Michael T. Comfort & his wife Tina of Benson, NC; a daughter Theresa Comfort of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren: Nautica, DeAsia, & Layla Comfort, Lilyan Mirabella, Michael Jr., Jaycob, Preston, Lealan and Kaylynn Comfort. She is further survived by her siblings: Blanche Banghart & her husband Otto of Port Jervis, Karen Comfort & her husband Gary Crowell of NC, Miles Comfort & his wife Joanie of Matamoras, PA, Shawn Comfort & his partner Chris Pfanstiel of Swan Lake, and Nancy DeGroat of Newburgh; her best friend and cousin Darlene Benzenberg of Swan Lake; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, or as she would call them: her "Young'ns". In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son: Jesse Comfort, and a brother Eugene Comfort. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 5:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 St. John Street in Monticello with Rev. Diana Scheide officiating.
