Obituary of Kevin "Bubby" Manto Jr.

Kevin Charles Manto Jr. "Bubby" of Wurtsboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was 28.

The son of Lynnette J. Hairie Manto and Kevin C. Manto Sr., he was born July 3, 1990 in Goshen.

Kevin was a kind and loyal and respectful young man. A child of our village, the town watched him since he was an infant growing into an extraordinary young man who has been prayed for in all religions across the country and overseas since diagnosed with brain cancer. He was a person you met and would never forget for his kindness. His joy was spending time with his father helping him fix things or just talking – they were best friends. Date night with mom included going to the auction and out to dinner. Having fun with his sister always made him laugh, and weekends with his children filled his heart with joy and happiness. He also enjoyed going on walks with his dog Marley to the Basha Kill and ending his days with his friends lighting up!

He is survived by his parents: Lynn and Kevin; his children: Kevin III and Harper Faith; his sister: Katelynn; his grandparents: Catherine & Mark Hairie, and Marilyn Webber; and his two nephews: Timothy Jr. and Liam. He was predeceased by his little brother: Killian; and his grandfather: George Manto.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 13 from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 14 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties for the extraordinary care given to Kevin in his last days.
