Obituary of Ruben Carrasquillo

Ruben Carrasquillo, a longtime resident of Monticello, NY, died June 8, 2018 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY surrounded by his loved ones. He was 81 years old. Ruben was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on February 11, 1937, the first child of Ricarda Encarnacion and Delfin Carrasquillo. Ruben moved to New York City and work in many restaurants before moving to the Catskill Mountains. While employed as a busboy at the Concord Resort Hotel, he met the love of his life and future wife Ana Fidelia Franco. Ruben loved his family, betting on the races at the Monticello Raceway, the NY Yankees, but most of all, he loved dressing up. He will always be remembered for his sharp sense of style In addition to his wife Ana, Ruben is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Carrasquillo, of Monticello; his grandson, Ruben Young, of Monticello, his brother, Eddie Carrasquillo, of Monticello; his sisters, Hilda, Paula, Zorida and Carmela Carrasquillo, all of Puerto Rico; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 16th from 2:00-5:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a prayer service starting at 4:30pm.
