Obituary of Elizabeth Ketcham

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth "Libby" Ketcham of Monticello, a former nursing assistant and longtime resident of the area, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty at the age of 87. The daughter of the late Evan Thomas and Elizabeth Jones Thomas, she was born May 18, 1930 in Edwardsville, PA. She was the widow of Charles Ketcham who predeceased her in 2009. From her birth to her death she nourished people around her with cooking, love, faith, and music. Libby showed her love for everyone through her cooking, best known for her "Nanna Libby Peanut Butter Balls". Libby was also an avid lover of music, teaching herself the piano at a young age. She loved singing and playing music for friends and family, especially the organ at church. Libby was also known for her spontaneous adventures with her sister and her boys: From piling into the car to try and get a close up of the original Woodstock Festival to heading down to the beaches of Florida for a last minute getaway (or is it the Jersey Shore?) The family would like to thank the staff at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center for their exceptional care. We are grateful for the outstanding staff of nurses and assistants who showed so much kindness and compassion for Libby, especially during her last few days. She is survived by her two sons: Charles "Litt" Ketcham & his wife Josephine, and Evan Ketcham & his wife Barbara, all of Monticello; and four grandchildren: Melinda & her husband Josh Meddaugh, Shane & his wife Mandi, Kelley & her husband Adam Little, and Marcy Ketcham, along with nieces and nephews in PA and Florida and her family in Wales, U.K. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 3 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will begin at 5pm with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating. Interment of her ashes will be held at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene, 210 Katrina Falls Road, Rock Hill, NY 12775. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello NY; for additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
