Obituary of Phyllis M. Buchman

Phyllis M. Buchman of Rock Hill passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 82.

The daughter of the late Harold Hulse and Helen Roman Hulse, she was born March 5, 1936 in Liberty, NY.

Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family and friends. She was always the first one to volunteer whenever someone needed help. She was quick with a smile and truly loved to make people happy. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. A graduate of Liberty High School, she was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wurtsboro and a life member of the Rock Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a former member of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus church group at St. Peter's Church in Monticello.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Stephen Buchman, at home; a daughter: Carol Buchman of Rock Hill; a sister: Janice Conklin (Ed) of Warner Robbins, GA; granddaughter: Melinda Gwiozdowski (Kris); a great granddaughter Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son: Craig; a daughter: Susan; a daughter in law: Kelly; and two sisters: Doris and Jane.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, March 26 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will follow at the Hurleyville Cemetery. Reception to follow at Rock Hill Firehouse.
